Electrolysis

At Just Bare Skin, we offer both electrolysis and laser hair removal.  This allows us to create a program that is tailored to both your needs and your budget.  We are experts in our field, and we are committed to helping you to achieve your hair-removal goals.

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that uses heat to destroy the hair at the root. Our electrolysis is the perfect choice for facial (and other) hair removal.  It’s safe, swift, and removes hair permanently.

Indeed, electrolysis is still the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal, and it’s the only method we will use on your face. If laser hair removal hasn’t worked for you, the solution is electrolysis. Using a very fine probe, our electrolysis system will take a specifically timed and totally regulated amount of heat, and place it into the germinative portion of the hair follicle to destroy the new hair growth cells which produce the hair shaft.

Our system was developed over thirty years ago at the University City Science Center and has proven successful to this day. Though electrolysis might not get the press that laser has attracted in recent years, it is still many clinicians’ go-to choice for immediate and permanent spot removal.

With electrolysis, we can achieve lasting results.  Once hair is removed, it does not return. Imagine freedom from embarrassing ingrowns, sharp stubble or constant regrowth.  No more messy creams, painful waxing or endless shaving.  Just silky-smooth, hair-free skin.

Electrolysis is suitable for any body part, and any type of hair and skin.  While laser is most effective on darker hair, electrolysis works on brunette, blonde, red and white hair, and any skin tone.

Popular areas include:

  • Upper and lower lip

  • Eyebrows

  • Jawline

  • Cheeks

  • Chin

  • Breast

  • Hands

  • Toes

…and any portion of skin where unsightly hairs sprout.

New hair growth may be triggered by age, hormones, genetics or medication.  A fine hair may suddenly become coarse. Whatever the reason, our system will remove that hair.  Permanently. The number of treatments will depend on the amount of unwanted hair and its cycling time.  At your free consultation, we will assess your needs, and create a customized and cost-effective treatment program.

FAQ - Laser Hair Removal

Electrolysis FAQ

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that uses heat to destroy the hair at the root.

How does it work?

Using a very fine probe, our electrolysis system will take a specifically timed and totally regulated amount of heat, and place it into the germinative portion of the hair follicle to destroy the new hair growth cells which produce the hair shaft.

Why choose electrolysis over laser?

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal.  Electrolysis = permanent hair removal, whereas laser = permanent hair reduction.

So…electrolysis?  Laser?  Which should I choose?

You might have received laser treatment for facial hair, and been disappointed in the results.  So, if you’ve had laser treatment on the face and it did not work, electrolysis is the answer.

At Just Bare Skin, electrolysis is the only hair removal method we will use on the face.

In general, laser is suitable for larger areas of skin (for instance, legs).

If you have unwanted hair in a relatively small area, and you want it removed permanently, electrolysis is ideal.

Electrolysis is useful for removing stray hairs after laser treatment - for instance, white hairs that the laser might not have been able to treat.  It’s a great way to achieve a polished look.

Many clients opt for a combination of electrolysis and laser.  We will work with you to decide which treatment, or blend of treatments, would be right for you.

Is electrolysis suitable for my skin and hair type?

Yes.  Electrolysis is suitable for all skin and hair types.

Will it hurt?

Sensitivity varies from person to person.  You may experience a brief pricking sensation, but it will last less than a second.  Let us know how you feel, and we will adjust the treatment accordingly.

How much will it cost?

For electrolysis, we charge $90 for a thirty-minute session, and $155 for a sixty-minute session.

At your free no-obligation consultation, we will discuss your needs, length and number of sessions, and what you can expect to pay.  It might cost less than you think!

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies, according to the amount of hair that needs to be treated, length of hair growth cycle, heredity, medications, hormones, and other factors.

During your free personal consultation, we will discuss your needs, and create a program that suits your goals and budget.

Which body parts can be treated?

Electrolysis is safe and suitable for any body part.  Popular areas include the face (upper and lower lip, eyebrows, jawline, cheeks and chin), breast, hands, toes, abdomen, bikini line, and any portion of skin where unsightly hairs sprout.

What results might I expect?

Once your course of treatments is complete, you can expect to enjoy silky-smooth stubble-free skin.  Permanently!
