Laser Hair Removal
Sick of shaving? Painful waxing? Messy creams?
Let us give you silky-smooth skin using our laser hair removal expertise. Laser hair removal treatment beams highly concentrated light into the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair shaft absorbs the light. The heat created destroys the follicle at its root, thus preventing that hair from growing back.
The result is permanent hair reduction. It’s a swift and effective way to treat unwanted body hair, particularly over large areas of skin. Using laser, we can treat any body part, except the face (for facial hair removal, we only use electrolysis).
Popular areas include:
-
Legs (upper and lower)
-
Bikini line
-
Underarms
-
Abdomen
-
Bottom
-
Back
…and any portion of skin you’d like to be silky-smooth and hair-free.
You may be new to laser treatment, and wondering what it will feel like. Don’t worry - we use a Lumenis Lightsheer Duet Laser. The “Duet” employs breakthrough vacuum-assisted technology in combination with diode laser light. This allows for faster and more comfortable treatments, which encourages our clients to complete the full program and achieve the best results.
The number of treatments varies, according to skin and hair type, heredity, medications, hormones, and other factors. Clients see permanent hair loss after an average of six treatments. During your free personal consultation, we’ll discuss your needs, and create a customized program that suits your goals and budget. Over the course of your program, you will achieve permanent hair reduction.
We understand that you may be skeptical, so we allow our clients to pay for each treatment individually. You won’t be sold a “package.” Add up the time and money that you spend on shaving, waxing and depilatory creams. You may find laser treatment surprisingly cost-effective.
Laser Hair Removal FAQ
What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a treatment that uses intense pulsed light to achieve permanent hair reduction. In the hands of an experienced practitioner, it is safe and highly effective.
How does it work?
A concentrated beam of light is directed onto areas of unwanted hair growth, using a handheld device. This beam turns to heat as it passes through the skin and is absorbed by the dark pigment (melanin) in your hair follicle. The heat damages the hair follicle, thus inhibiting growth.
Why choose laser treatment over electrolysis?
Using laser, we can treat large areas of skin, swiftly and effectively. In a single session, for instance, we can treat underarms, full leg and bikini. This is just one example of what we can accomplish using laser technology. Electrolysis is suitable for facial hair removal (we do not use laser on the face), and for any area where permanent hair removal is desired. It’s ideal for smaller areas of skin. But it would take a long time to do your legs! Electrolysis is still the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. With laser treatment, you will achieve permanent hair reduction.
Many clients opt for a combination of electrolysis and laser. We will work with you to decide which treatment, or blend of treatments, would be right for you.
Is laser hair removal treatment suitable for my hair and skin type?
Laser treatment is most effective on those with light skin and dark hair.
If you have darker skin, or a tan, or if your hair is gray, blonde or red, laser might not be suitable for you. The good news is that laser works well on coarse, black hair - often the hair that has proved most unsightly and embarrassing. If laser isn’t right for you, or you’ve tried it in the past, and it hasn’t worked, electrolysis is the answer. At Just Bare Skin, we offer both, and will work with you to achieve your hair removal goals.
Will it hurt?
Imagine warmth, and a slight twist of your skin. Let us know if this is uncomfortable, and we will adjust the treatment accordingly.
What type of equipment do you use, and why?
At Just Bare Skin, we use the High Speed Lightsheer Duet Laser. The Lightsheer High Speed handpiece uses breakthrough vacuum-assisted technology in combination with diode laser light to allow rapid and comfortable treatment of large areas. In other words: - the “Duet” sucks up your skin, thus placing the hair closer to the energy source. This intensifies the impact of the treatment, while minimizing pain, and allowing our clinician to work swiftly and safely. Our system was created over thirty years ago at the University City Science Center, and has proven successful to this day.
What about these do-it-yourself home models I’ve read about?
Not a good idea. The light is less intense, and thus less effective. Plus, in the wrong hands (yours, sorry), you risk doing yourself an injury. Not to mention it will take you forever. A professional works fast. Do you really want to spend evenings (and mornings, and weekends) zapping your own legs. Chances are you’ll get bored, and your device will go the same way as the epilator you used once, and threw out the window.
How much will it cost?
At Just Bare Skin, you won’t be sold a “package.” Rather, we break down typical package costs into individual payments, so that you can pay for treatments at the time of service, without being locked into an agreement. We’ve found that most patients prefer this. Consider the cost, over time, of other hair removal methods. Waxing treatments and depilatory creams add up, and consume time as well as money. At your free no-obligation consultation, we will let you know exactly what you can expect to pay.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies, according to skin and hair type, body part (or parts), heredity, medications, hormones, and other factors. Some clients may need as few as three, others as many as six, or more. During your free personal consultation, we will discuss your needs, and create a customized program that suits your goals and budget.
Which body parts can be treated?
Any body part, except the face. Popular areas include legs (upper and lower), bikini line, underarms, abdomen, bottom, back, and any portion of skin you’d like to be smooth and hair-free.
What results might I expect?
Once your course of treatments is complete, you can expect to enjoy significantly reduced hair growth, much finer hair, and extended hair-free periods. Many clients find they no longer need to shave. You’ll be smoother and happier, knowing that your hair removal needs are in caring and expert hands.
